The Bucks made it seven league games without defeat with a splendid 2-0 victory at Basford United, who started the day in second place. First half goals from the ever-improving Warren Clarke and Diego De Girolamo (now 27 for the season) did the damage but it was an inspired performance from every player. There was a first appearance, from the bench, for right-sided midfielder Dan Bramall who joined the club from Matlock Town on Friday. Dan is a former Chesterfield and Everton youth player.
On Tuesday (7-45) we make a rare league visit to Radcliffe in another important fixture for both clubs in the fight to climb away from the relegation places. Radcliffe haven’t won a league match since Boxing Day but had a spirited 2-2 draw with high-flying Nantwich Town on Saturday. The last time the Bucks played a league game at Radcliffe was in March 1973 when a 1-0 victory helped maintain the eventually successful pursuit of the Cheshire League title.
The postponed league match at home to Warrington Town will now be played on Tuesday 24th of March at 7-45.
Hard-earned but deserved victory at 2nd-placed Basford, extended Buxton's unbeaten league sequence to 7 games. Coming a fortnight after the draw at table-topping South Shields and one week following the 5-1 thrashing of rock-bottom Stafford, Saturday's achievement must surely convince any doubters that Gary Hayward's team has turned a corner, big-style!
