SEAN'S FIRST GOAL SEALS THREE POINTS

Thumbs Up For the Winner v Basford

Sean Newton scored his first goal for the Bucks to earn all three points at home to Basford United (February 8th). Experienced defender Sean joined the Bucks last week, on loan from National League North side York City.

He said: "After a quick build-up out of defence I got the ball and hit it towards the corner of the net. It was great to see it go in for the only goal of the game. I enjoyed celebrating with the fans. They are a huge help. It was an outstanding high-energy performance by us and we thoroughly deserved the win."

The Bucks enjoyed much of the possession and most of the chances in a game affected by the strong wind. Sean's goal was after 72 minutes. Full Match Report HERE

Promotion rivals Matlock Town and South Shields slipped up. Matlock could only manage a goalless draw at home to Grantham Town, while South Shields went down 1-0 at Morpeth Town. Morpeth had two men sent off but Shields could not capitalise.

Next for the Bucks is Nantwich Town away on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
