ONE GOAL AND THREE POINTS

After the seven-goals bonanza for Buxton on Saturday there was considerable anxiety, on and off the pitch, as the fourth official indicated just two minutes of stoppage time in the so-far goalless home game against Spennymoor Town, Tuesday, Match 11. Then Spennymoor's Finley Shrimpton seemed to slice the ball into his own net from a Keziah Martin cross and all three points were logged to the home team, maintaining ninth place in the Vanarama National League North.

Unsurprisingly, the Bucks were unchanged from the side that hammered Oxford City. Cian Coleman returned to the bench after suspension.

The first half was largely uneventful. It was a different story after the break, as the Bucks pushed forward with 68% possession, ending up with six shots on target compared with just one from their Couty Durham opponents. Chances came from all angles. Full Match Report HERE

Team manager John McGrath said: "Delighted. This was a back-up performance from Saturday and we were excellent.

"Spennymoor are well organised and defended well, with obvious maturity. But our boys kept going to the end. They know the style we want and they delivered. Praise for our young defence as well. This kind of form bodes well for the remainder of the season. It's a great football club to be at and support."

The Bucks travel to Brackley Town on Saturday, for a 3pm kick-off, always a tough venue. Currently, Brackley are second-top, a single point behind league leaders Scunthorpe United.
