Three days after the outstanding victory at York City in the FA Cup, Buxton returned to league duty on Tuesday night (November 9th) and ran out 2-0 winners against Atherton Collieries, the latest step in this season's promotion push.
Goals from Jamie Ward (36 minutes) and Diego De Girolamo (58 minutes) entertained a
crowd of 753 and the top performance of the night came from midfielder Tommy Elliott. It was
the first league game in charge for the new management team of Steve Cunningham and
Damian Crossley. Full Match Report HERE.
Director and club secretary David Brindley said: 'This was a great win and another clean sheet on a wet and windy night that didn't deter the 753 fans. They cheered the team from start to finish. Thanks go to them for this incredible support and we hope to see them on Saturday, for the visit of Hyde United (3pm). We'll be looking for a maximum return from the game. Tuesday night's win moves the Bucks up to third in the Northern Premier League table, four points behind the leaders with three games in hand'.
