Buxton's outstanding run of results, which has seen them shoot up the Vanarama National League North table, was interrupted at the Tarmac Silverlands by Brackley Town, 2-0 winners, Tuesday November 12.
The Bucks enjoyed over 70% possession, playing with their usual front-foot style to entertain the noisy, enthusiastic evening crowd of 635, but managed just three shots on target, compared to their visitors' tally of five, including goals by Connor Hall and Matt Lowe in a six-minute spell half way through the second period.
Team manager John McGrath had made just one change to his starting line-up from those sharing in the heroics at Scunthorpe on Saturday. Diego De Girolamo came in for suspended skipper Connor Kirby. De Girolamo was the Bucks' most dangerous forward and Kirby was a big miss. Full Match Report HERE
John McGrath said afterwards: "Brackley sat in deep following their strict game plan and it was a good away performance. Mostly, we didn't move the ball quickly enough, nor get behind their defence often enough.
"Connor Kirby was a big loss for us but that doesn't paper over the cracks, because it's a squad game. Anyway, I'm very pleased at the points we amassed in that great run, so prefer to think about that rather than dwell too much on tonight's set-back.
"The FA Trophy at Darlington on Saturday will give is a break from the league and it's another important game for us."
The Isuzu FA Trophy second round match at Darlington is scheduled for a 3pm kick-off.
